Roundup Friday is one of my favorite days on GPFYC Podcast, this provides me with the opportunity to share things I find special especially books. Today’s selection is one I believe every business owner should have on their book shelf and make required reading for their employees.
It’s called Rework by 37Signals.com founders Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson, their so many powerful gems in the book that it presented quite a challenge to choose my favorite but somehow I managed.
For today’s selection I handpicked seven standout chapters that I highly recommend you read should you decide to add the book to your library. I’ll list them below.
“Ignore This Book At Your Own Peril.” – Seth Godin
Authors and software developers Fried and Hansson are responsible for the creation and development of cutting edge tools like Basecamp a project management program and Highrise a contact, lead and deal tracking program.
The goal – to make life easier for entrepreneurs easier and more productive and they’ve carried that spirit over to Rework. The publishers designed the book with short, succinct sections, each visually illustrated by the artwork of brilliant illustrator Mike Rohde making it an easy and entertaining read.
My Personal Chapter Pick:
- Enough with “Entrepreneurs”
- Making the Call is Making Progress
- Be a Curator
- Out-Teach Your Competition
- Emulate Chefs
- Drug Dealers Get It Right
- Marketing Is Not A Department
What I appreciate most about Rework are the authors commitment to providing the reader with bite size, common sense, actionable nuggets of wisdom, so many I couldn’t possibly highlight them all here in this review.
The authors” cut the chase” writing style makes the book a thought provoking and engaging read. Rework isn’t your typical stuffy, boring, business book, add it your success library and that of your staff to renew your inspiration anytime you want.
