For those of you reading today’s blog post who are new to me, I did something that many people dream about but rarely ever accomplish. I wrote and self published a book!
If you’ve ever written a book then you know how painstaking a process this can be, and if you’ve ever self published, more so.
Actually my last print book was not my first effort with physical book publishing. About 20 years ago I barely managed to scrape together an admittedly crudely self published book. But through hard work and lots of hustle I was able to get that book into numerous independent bookstores across the country.
While it was an enormously rewarding experience it was equally stressful, so much so, that it was many, many years before I attempted to take on another publishing project.
Fast forward to today we enter the age of online digital publishing! Today we have the ability to take a simple idea, write it up, (or speak it into our laptop) have it transcribed, edited and formatted with a simple piece of software that costs less than $20. Now you have the ability to produce a document that can technically be classified as a “book”, ready to published and sold in a matter of days, if not hours.
Yesterday and Today:
All those years ago my first publishing project cost thousands of dollars including time, stress and lost sleep. But no more, today I can take an existing piece of content, re-purpose it and make it available for sale in a fraction of the time it takes to publish traditionally.
And that’s the focus of today’s and the new series of articles I’ll be sharing on the topic of creative self publishing.
As a matter of fact, in Module One of my new online coaching program I share with my students how and why you want to multi-purpose your existing content for increased cash flow.
Personally I think it’s one of the quickest ways to create new income from your creativity.
I purposely opted to keep this blog post short as not to overwhelm you with too many details. But don’t worry, in this new blog series I’ll share with you my exact step-by-step my process (including all of my behind the scenes ah-ha moments, real time results and of course the mistakes I’ll certainly make along the way) so stay tuned for part 2.
So for now that concludes: Kindle Publishing Project: Get Paid For Your Creativity – Part 1
